Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer/Discipline Lead
Position and Responsibilities
As a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Discipline Lead (Sr I&C DL) for Middough (company), you will collect and prepare data/information and perform detailed engineering calculations. The Senior Engineer is a subject matter expert (SME) and will typically lead quality for the discipline as well as lead collaboration between disciplines for successful work completion on technically complex projects. The Sr I&C DL will also perform engineering designs for peer review and approval by other senior department personnel. The Sr I&C DL will also demonstrate technical/professional growth by maintaining active membership in professional organizations and participating in technical seminars/courses.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Mentor junior level engineers and designers.
- Collaborate with I&C talent in other offices across the company.
- Collect and prepare data/information, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write formal engineering/technical reports.
- Develop technical specifications & data sheets, perform technical evaluation of bids, and recommend best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
- Involved in the development of and lead discipline work to budgets and schedule.
- Leadership in field work by checking installations and problem-solving activities.
- Perform calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
- Serve as Project Lead for single-discipline projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking drawings.
- Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline required.
- 10+ years of experience performing engineering analysis and design functions with 10+ years in leading engineering projects in a petrochemical environment.
- Experience with specifying field instrumentation and process analyzers; specifying DCS/PLC hardware and wiring design is required; working knowledge of P&ID's, PFD's, loop diagrams, installation details, NEC/ISA standards; estimating engineering project costs.
- Ability to function as a project engineer when necessary.
- Working knowledge of Smart Plant Instrumentation would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Access.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.
- Ability to multitask and organize for project efficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- May require occasional car or air travel to other company locations or client sites.
- This position requires the candidate/employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence.
