Lead Architect - Industrial / Life Sciences

Lead Architect – Position and Responsibilities
As Lead Architect with Middough, you will be responsible for leading the architectural design of small, medium, and large industrial architectural-based projects through specific phased or entire project cycle from initial programming & concept (FEL 1) through successful completion (FEL 4).  As the Lead Architect, you will also be be responsible for the project architectural budget, design team, and technical execution with focus on quality, scope, budget and schedule. The Lead Architect is also responsible for project architectural design coordination across multiple departments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead the architectural design on projects as needed.
  • Plan the work, manage the scope of work, address any scope and work changes, and adjust any deliverables as needed.
  • Complete the work within budget and scheduled time frame.
  • Work under MAPP (Middough Advanced Project Procedures) to ensure quality assurance and quality control for assigned projects.
  • Use REVIT to take a project from the proposal stage to a potential full BIM execution for presentation to the client.
  • Manage and facilitate the execution of tasks efficiently.
  • Apply advanced architectural principles, theories and concepts of design to develop creative, cost-effective solutions to complex building designs.
  • Prepare proposals and hour estimates responding to RFP’s and statements of need.
  • Suggest and implement work process efficiencies.
  • Use creative and innovative thought process to deliver ultimate project solutions

Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Accredited Bachelors or Master of Architecture required.
  • State Licensed RA.
  • LEED professional accreditation preferred.
  • 10-15 years of Architecture work experience required.
  • Experience with design of Industrial, Food, Life Science, and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturing facilities preferred.
  • Experience using AutoCAD with advanced REVIT skills.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and facility design experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and CSI Masterspec Specification editing.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, cGMP, FDA, OSHA, FM Global & NFPA standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and coordination skills within pertinent engineering disciplines (Civil, Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fire Protection, Electrical, and Process).
  • Experience in performing Architectural workflows from programing through construction documents, and construction administration services.
  • Knowledge of the International Building Code and ability to recognize hazards and life safety on projects for Code Analysis preparation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage groups to facilitate the execution of tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to multi-task and be highly organized for effective project planning.

Noise levels may be moderate to high at various client sites, hearing protection may be required and/or provided. Safety protections to be provided by the client and/or company and are required to be used and followed.
  • May require occasional car or air travel to other company locations or client sites.
  • This position requires the candidate/employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence.
