Engineering Manager – Position and Responsibilities
This is a hybrid/remote position, based on business and client needs, in the Dallas, TX area. As an Engineering Manager with Middough, you will apply advanced technical and engineering expertise to lead a multi-discipline technical team to support our client’s engineering projects. As the Engineering Manager, you will also oversee technology planning, administration of work process, and both client and team management/development for assigned client projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manage multi-discipline engineering teams to meet schedule, cost, and technical objectives.
  • Manage all phases of employee performance around coaching, training and development.
  • Apply established company practices, policies, procedures, and standards pertinent to the engineering design standards and project execution.
  • Perform engineering analysis and design on complex or unique problems.
  • Document work in well written professional technical reports, when required.
  • Provide guidance to engineers, designers and drafters on project and technical topics.
  • Insure project technical compliance requirements are met using Codes & Standards and client requirements pertinent to design or engineered systems.
  • Drive company work process initiatives, training and program implementation.
  • Apply technical expertise by organizing and presenting internal training programs.
  • Estimate department work-hours, writing the scope of work, and recommending team assignments.
  • Perform drawing review and design calculation checking for any project within technical expertise.
  • Perform the responsibilities a Project Engineer (per Project Management Guidelines) as needed.

Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Accredited Bachelors of Science degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience performing engineering analysis and design functions.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • Acknowledged expertise in more than one technical area.
  • Experience presenting to and developing client relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities for efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

Physical Requirements

  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Frequently use up-close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Should not expect adverse environmental conditions within company offices.
  • May be exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as climbing ladders and/or stairs, extreme heat and/or cold, and/or poor air quality) if or when on-site at a client facility. Noise levels may be moderate to high at various client sites, hearing protection may be required and/or provided. Safety protections to be provided by the client and/or company and are required to be used and followed.
  • May require occasional car or air travel to other company locations or client sites.
  • This position requires the candidate/employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence.
