Job Description

Structural Inspector (Entry Level)
 

Position Description: 
The inspector acts as the company’s field representative and gathers documentation of existing conditions for the development of engineered repairs of deficiencies found. The inspector can also act as a construction monitor during repairs or installation of structures and modifications resulting from the inspection findings.
 

Essential Functions: 
  •  Prepare daily reports on information retrieved from on-site inspections.
  • Read site drawings and make changes accordingly based upon inspection results.
  • Keep current of the latest developments in equipment inspection standards, codes, practices, procedures, methods, inspection equipment, as applicable.
  • Provide technical support in resolving problems concerning inspection methods and procedures of completing work within the scope and intent of applicable codes and standards.
 
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • 1-3 years’ experience (preferred) in similar role
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, Associates degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license necessary, state certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Candidate must be able to climb, work away from fixed platforms and in confined spaces and must be able to travel if necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers micrometers, and height gages
  • Possess a familiarity with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods and processes

  • frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs and ladders, balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls;
  • frequently required to be in confined spaces, heights, open stairwells, etc.
  • frequently use up-close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
 
In addition:
  • Overtime may be necessary as workloads dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
  • The job will generally be performed at the Client’s production facility or industrial/construction job site and could last for extended periods of time
  • May require occasional overnight travel to another client location/facility or the home office.
  • Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
  • When working outside Middough’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Middough and/or Client, as required.
