Job Description

Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level) - Onsite - Gary, IN
 
Position Description:  
The successful engineer is adept at organizing and scheduling work tasks across multiple projects. The engineer has a track record of problem solving and understands the dynamic between the design details and the “big picture” project objectives.  The engineer will develop technical design, calculations, 3D models, and drawings for review & approval by senior department personnel while working as part of a multi-discipline design team.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Collects and prepares data/information and performs detailed engineering calculations.
  • Builds complex 3D parts and assemblies (both models & drawings) using native 3D design tools (Preferred: SolidWorks and AutoCAD).
  • Develops technical specifications & data sheets, performs technical evaluation of bids, and recommends best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability and safety.
  • Performs calculations to validate simulation models.
  • Assists in field observations, checking installations, and problem solving activities.
  • Interacts with other departments and suppliers to exchange project pertinent information.
  • Keeps department and project managers up to date on task progression
  Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 0 to 3 years of related work experience
  • Experienced at developing engineering designs in 3D (SolidWorks & AutoCAD) in a Manufacturing, Automotive, Product Design, or Heavy Industrial / Metals work environment
  • Experienced using CAE packages to assist in design validation within work environment (Preferred: SolidWorks Simulation FEA and Flow Simulation CFD / FlowVENT)
  • High proficiency using Microsoft Office products for engineering calculations and reporting (Excel, Access, Word)

  • The job will generally be performed at the Client's production facility or industrial/construction job site and could last for an extended period of time.
  • May require occasional overnight travel to another client location/facility or the home office.
  • Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
  • When working outside Middough’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Middough and/or Client, as required.
