Industrial Architect
Position Description: 

The Industrial Architect is responsible for the planning and design of industrial processing facilitates. Responsibilities for this leadership position include; project coordination, preparation of program statements, planning documents, contract documents and specifications for technical projects; development of technical specifications and recommending specification requirements and content. The candidate must have an understanding of code studies, cGMP facility design, explosion venting and containment, laboratories and amenities for plant operations. 
Essential Functions: 
  • Generates drawings from BIM and/or CAD software.
  • Maintains electronic drawing files.
  • Produces and supports design drawings with necessary detail, field investigations, research/review of existing drawings, material qualities and compliance with client requirements as necessary.
  • Develops detail, basic design layouts and prepares drawings consistent with good practices, client requirements and conformance to Building Codes & Standards.
  • Willing to develop a working knowledge of drawings, specification and codes.
  • Able to create renderings, 3D views and 2D presentation drawings
  • Ability to create and develop designs with direction from project Architect
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the design, technical and management interface on assigned projects.
  • Reviews project/architectural deliverables for compliance with accepted design principles, company standards and customer contract specifications.
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • 10+years architectural experience in leading the designing of buildings for process type projects - food, pharma, chemicals
  • Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture or related discipline
  • Professional registration in architecture
  • cGMP facility design experience
  • Experience with explosion venting and containment
  • Experience designing laboratories is a plus  
  • LEED AP credentials a plus
  • Construction document preparation including comprehensive construction administration
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Experience with and general knowledge of contract and liability issues
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • When working outside Middough’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Middough and/or Client, as required.
