Human Resource Director

The Human Resources Director is responsible for organizational development and policy/program development and implementation covering employment, compensation, benefits, training and performance management, employee relations, recruiting and retention and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. Provides leadership and consulting support to senior executives/management on matters of program and policy development and translates the strategic/tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.
Responsibilities will cover all phases of the employee life cycle, from recruitment and on-boarding, to employee relations and policy administration, and will also include performance and talent management, benefit and leave administration, HRIS, and employee file maintenance.  Provide HR leadership to all leaders and employees throughout the organization.
Essential Functions: 
  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates the Company’s human resource function and performance.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces policies and programs for effective management of all employees.
  • Develops multi-faceted staffing strategies and implementation plans/programs to identify appropriate and effective sources of talent internally and externally for positions of expanding responsibility at all levels within the company.
  • Develops progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance, and for the short and long range health and welfare protection of employees.
  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs and systems to fill the identified needs.
  • Evaluates the human resources department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency/effectiveness of the group and provides members with professional growth and development opportunities.
  • Conducts job evaluations for exempt roles, determining placement in corporate compensation structure.
  • Advises and coaches management to resolve employee issues.
  • Administers various HR practices; may assist in the development and implementation of policies, as needed.
  • Maintains employee records, including HRIS data; compiles reports and assists with data analysis.
  • Benefit administration; includes 401k related issues, communicating information to employees and partnering with Benefits Manager and appropriate vendors to resolve issues.
  • Oversees leaves of absences, partnering with 3rd party administrator as needed.
  • Develops and monitors an annual budget that includes Human Resources services, employee recognition, and employee benefits.
  • Drive a culture of performance, results, and positive employee relations.
  • Play a key leadership role in the employee recognition program.
  • Be a champion and driver of progressive change through the organization.
  • Utilize technology to streamline the administrative processes related to HR, data storage, and the on-boarding process.
Skills and Qualifications:     
  • 15+ years of broad based HR experience, with a minimum of seven years at a senior management level.
  • Executive level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong systems orientation with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to provide department vision and overall company leadership.
  • Ability to plan, schedule and delegate the work of department members.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees supporting and enhancing a collaborative work environment.
  • Able to relate to employees at all levels of the Company, from hourly employees to “C suite” team.
  • Demonstrates good decision making and emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Able to travel to remote offices on periodic basis.
  • Forward thinker.
  • Engaged and connected to the workforce while simultaneously demonstrating responsiveness to employee issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR/OD or other related field.
  • Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Professional certification at SPHR level.
